Embu Level 5 Hospital, previously known as Embu Provincial General Hospital, is a county referral facility that was started in 1924 as dispensary and by 1960 had grown into a district hospital. In 1984 a major expansion program was started by the government that would see the facility upgraded to a provincial general hospital.
