Hallo wanted to get more information on how do you deal with people with no insurance cards n want to use you hospital for delivery which card can one use if not insurace and how does it work?
Had an experience with this institution as my wife chose it based on the good reviews she had read on it. I will summarize as follows:
1) PR: Staff were indeed friendly and supportive and went out of their way to make sure you felt appreciated as a client.
2) Billing: They have different packages which they indeed outline while indicating what is not included. However some things which I would normally think would be part of the package were charged and billed separately (e.g. monitoring baby heartbeat, feeding for the baby, IPC (ati infection prevention control lol yaani usafi). Kwani whose responsibility is it to ensure the place is clean yet it’s a hospital for heavens sake? Why bill the baby separately for feeding yet the mother’s food is included? Beats sense I think. I guess they only stopped short of billing me for air breathed and natural light. Be aware of these hidden charges. The result was that for a 40k package, I ended up paying 77k on normal delivery (a 92.5% increase). I have been to other hospitals with similar packages and they are not as greedy. e.g. Avenue where a 40k package only ended up at 44k for the same period of stay, and which is I think is quite reasonable and acceptable.
3) Delivery: This is my main issue. After labouring all night, delivery happened at a time when staff were switching shifts. One delivery staff (God bless her for being so supportive all night) requested an incoming one to help her with delivery. She accepted and took on the responsibility but had zero support such that twice or thrice she had to often go out into the corridor to call out names of staff to come and help her. I raised this at the point of discharge but was given a half-baked explanation about staff being overwhelmed by other emergencies. Crap. I am paying for this so we deserve attention too and this involves the life of a baby and a mama. Thank God baby was delivered and is well even though the process left me questioning the disorganization.
4) Documentation: No birth notification was available at the point of discharge (something about the booklet and the leafs being depleted). No problem with that, but today I am on day 11 since the baby was born and despite promises on phone from the main PR person who promises to look into it the many times I have called, nothing has been forthcoming. I’ll keep trying though as it’s my right to have the baby documented.
In short, I don’t recommend and will not be going back wherever whenever.
Yesterday I was at the pioneer RFH (the small old one). The services, considering traffic, were good. Only issues were cleanliness and the outdated equipments. The reception was many a times crowded (unfortunate during covid times) and therefore got dirty every other minute. At no single time did I see a housekeeper maintaining the area. I went to the restroom (only a single one provided) and it was dirty! Even the corridor leading to the toilets was dirty – at some point, to and from the ladies, there was a dropped used “elastoplast” bandage. No tissue available in the single toilet and the dustbin right outside was overflowing. I even requested a male doc whom I meant at the handwashing area to ask for a cleaner to check on the restrooms ( I trust he did). I was sent for an ultrasound and the drama with the machine was worrying. The sonographer (quite a patient young man) had to restart/keep waiting for the screen to react to the commands given..very annoying. Considering this is your pioneer hospital Dr. Maxwell, it’s neglected to some extent. Don’t let the renovations (great job by the way) fool you into thinking all is well. It’s the little things that build up to something either good or bad. Kindly do something about it.
Anyone thinking of visiting the hospital should seek clear information on the charges otherwise you’ll be slapped with a crazy bill.
If you are not keen enough to question what’s on the invoice you’ll be exhorted! They are all in it from the nurses to the Patron (KENEDY)
WORST EVER HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO BUY THEIR RED CARD INSURANCE PACKAGE, IT;S SO USELESS.
I CALLED IN TO BOOK FOR SKINCARE, AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF WAITING FOR THE APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION, THE CALL AND TELL ME THAT MY BOIL CAN BE TREATED BY A GENERAL PRACTIONER. THE LAST TIME I VISITED THE SAID GP, SHE ALMOST JUMPED TO PRESS MY BOIL. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING….
